It’s been a week since I got home from Burning Man.

One week since a life-changing reawakening.

One week of normal life.

One week since I discovered a long-lost part of me.

One week of getting back to my daily self.

When you build a fire, you start with a foundation of materials. You place the kindling in the middle, the part that will burn quickest.

You place the smaller sticks on top of it, the part that will get ignited by the kindled flame.

You place the larger logs above and around, and these will catch fire from what’s beneath. These will burn the brightest and the longest. These will provide light and heat to what is around them. These will be burned and changed in the process, as the fire works its way into them, using their deepest essence to produce what it’s made for.

Time passes.

The flames get smaller.

Less heat goes out of them, the light dims.

These logs are smaller, smoldering, glowing coals. They’re no longer burning bright, but don’t you dare touch them because they are still HOT.

It’s been one week, and I am those glowing coals.

Burning Man lit me on FIRE. I burned bright on that beach. I was changed, processed, down to my very essence. I’m out of the fire now, but those embers are still there.

How do you keep the fire of inspiration lit once the flames are gone? How do you move forward when you have changed in your true self, but life has gone on like nothing else has happened?

I remember that the fire, though gone, is TRUTH. It HAPPENED, I experienced it. I was a part of it, and it was ME. And I carry that with me into each moment, every day.

And I walk on into the next flame.
