I brought this parasol to Burning Man — it wouldn’t help me in the rain anyway…but it reminded me of my last couple of days before I left…

When was your last rainy day?

I know – it’s summer. There haven’t been a lot of rainy days lately.

But I mean metaphorically.

There are sunny days, where the world seems full of joy. Colors are brighter, strangers are nicer, everything is going your way.

Those are GREAT days.

And then there are rainy days in life, that aren’t so great.

Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day. (or not)

OMG! I had a major rainy day — check out my FB Live (Or IGTV Dance Ep#71) – where I danced the rain away.

Here’s the thing. It IS going to come another day. I wish, for you, that it wasn’t. But the rain will always come.

And when it does come, WE CHOOSE how to handle it.

Let’s walk through this metaphor together.

IT STARTS RAINING (You get triggered by something).

You start cussing.

You run indoors as soon as possible.

You complain about how soaked you are for the rest of the day. You tell everyone “Of course this happened today. Just PERFECT.” but everyone can tell that you don’t really mean perfect

Or.

IT STARTS RAINING.

You pull out your umbrella from your purse.

You open said umbrella and continue walking. You hardly notice the rain, and the rain hardly notices you.

Or.

IT STARTS RAINING.

You stop.

You look up, squinting your eyes to stop the rain from hitting your eyeballs directly.

You smile, a huge, silly smile.

You taste the rain.

You put your hands out and feel the rain.

You dance and move. You feel joy.

You feel grateful for the rain’s existence.

How do you handle the rain?

You’re in control, always. You choose.

I hope your rainy days are always full of sunshine,

Hemalayaa
