Balance is easy when there’s nothing else going on to distract us.
Nope, let me start over. That’s not true.
Balance is never really easy, is it?
It feels like something that’s just always a little bit out of our reach. Something we are always working towards, but can never quite grasp.
It’s maddening, really.
But we keep trying. We adjust, we grow, we get a little closer and a little better. Our efforts DO absolutely make a difference. We are closer to balance today than we were yesterday. The fight gets a little easier.
But the fight is always easier when there is nothing else going on.
When we are home, in our regular routine.
It gets thrown off when we go on vacations. When we have unexpected visitors. When we launch a new program in our business. When we are busy.
It’s fragile. Any balance we achieve can be scared off, just like that.
So how do we maintain balance through the storm??
Whatever your storm may be… whether you are struggling with health issues, bouncing in and out of routine, or just generally living a busy lifestyle… the answer is the same.
You have to make time to listen.
In my last newsletter I wrote these lines to you:
You have the answers.
Your body and mind are telling you what they need. Always.
If you could hear me say these lines to you, you would hear how much I believe them. You would hear that when I say them, I’m speaking them from my heart and soul. I’m willing you to believe them as I say them. I’m sending all of the energy I have with those words, to help encourage you to put them into action.
Making time to listen to yourself is a powerful, life-altering act. It can be just for a minute! Start small. Sometimes when I crawl into bed at night, before I fall asleep, I put tomorrow’s to do list aside and turn my attention to myself.
Hi there beautiful. How was your day?
That’s it. A dialogue has begun. If there is something that you’re needing, you’ll hear it. If there’s something that is hurting you, you’ll hear it.
Your beautiful, wonderful self needs to be heard. It needs to know that you are listening.
Are you listening?
It’s a small act. It doesn’t take tons of effort. It just takes some discipline to form the habit. And guess what? I have a special gift coming for you in the next newsletter that will help you get there.
Maybe you’ve tried to listen, and you don’t hear anything. Sometimes if we are out of practice listening to ourselves, it stops speaking. If you are feeling like you need to get in touch with your true self, you may want to check out the EMBODY Experience I have coming up in October.
Practice today. Right now. Close your eyes for just a moment, and listen. Try engaging in dialogue. See if anything answers.
I’ll be in touch soon with some more tips on how to form a deeper connection with your self.
Until then, all my love…
