th-3Have you noticed that the more aware we become about healthy eating, the more we preach to others. I know, the intentions are to share with people about things to improve their lives, etc. But it’s really annoying for those who are eating the way they are, and here we are saying things like “you should buy those organic…” or “you shouldn’t eat that, it’s toxic” – it’s of course in our desire to help – again, I understand, and I’m one of these annoying people, but preaching to those who don’t ask us is rude. I’ve learned my lesson. My family just started ignoring me after a couple of years…and i went on for more, unit I realized that I was being really annoying. I needed to be on the other side of it to see – reflection, it is my best teacher 🙂

th-8So, if you’re reading this, I have your permission to give you tips and knowledge that I’ve learned, HA! But mostly in my personal life, I teach by example, trying not to put my opinions and perceptions aside. It’s freeing on both sides.

Ok, enough about the psychology of preaching…Let’s talk about the green drink that is rocking my world…

I go through my phases of green drinks, juices and smoothies, but I’ve got one that’s been going strong for the past few months. It’s my morning ritual and breakfast which sustains me and also creates a boost for my digestion, metabolism and gives me protein for a power-start to my day.

I was recently told by my medical doctor that I was bordering being pre-diabetic. It does run in my family so the protocol is to cut out ALL extra sugars. Boohoo, to my morning cuppa tea without a huge spoon of honey in it. I’ve been cutting ALL sugars, except fresh fruits. Excess sugar in the body becomes an inflammatory, so cutting it gives relief to those areas in my body, organs and conditions that are “flamed” due to injury, dietary abuse and perhaps emotions stuck in their. I have great protocols for expressing and releasing the emotions with ease – I lead these in my women’s circles, programs and private coaching. But, the food is a newer practice for me. I think this is an area I purposely have chosen to be less rigid about: first of all – who wants to give up emotional eating? Ha, I guess I do!.
And second, because I feel that rigidity is the cause of mental contractions which then cause us to control, OCD, and annoy family/people in our lives.  I guess I do.

The direction to cut all sugars in my diet has me looking at labels and seeing the sugar content in all foods, even my protein powders. This recipe for my mega-powered shake is low in sugars, and so tasty.

Recipe of My Kick-Ass Sugar Free Smoothie

2 cups unsweetened almond milk (without carrageenan in it).
1 leaf of medium – large kale stalk
1 leaf of collard green
1/4 of a small lemon.
3-4 tablespoons hemp protein powder (no additives, no flavor)
1/2 teaspoon to 1 tspn of flax meal
2 large mejdool dates (Optional: soaked in Ghee/clarified butter or Coconut oil)
1 tablespoon goji berries (Optional: soaked in 1/2 cup filtered water for an hour)
1/4 cup raspberries
1/4 cup blue berries
1/4 cup strawberries
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder
Optional: 1/2 teaspoon chlorella powder
Optional: 1/2 teaspoon Green Coffee powder.

The only things that need preparation are
1. cutting of the lemon (I keep 1/4 of the skin and peel on for added rind flavor and benefits.
2. If you soak the dates in the oil/ghee, then let them soak for a few hours at least. Make sure you take the pits out before soaking or adding directly to your shake.
3. If you use goji berries, soak them in clean water for at least an hour.

Blender it all together. Smile. Enjoy the boost to your morning!
